Taking Flight

Wasn’t sure how this shot of a flock of birds scattering together would come out, but please with the overall result and effect.

Watching the wildlife while waiting for sunset and some fantastic opportunities to practice pan and shoot technique.  Captured with my Canon 70-300mm lens.

Goose in Flight

Waiting for sunset, I didn’t realise I would also get such a good opportunity to capture the wildlife on the move to settle for the evening.  Pan and shoot effort with my Canon 70-300mm lens.

Tring Reservoir Sunset

Being a little behind with posting images, this sunset shot was captured 18th Feb at Wilstone Reservoir, changing camera settings to create the overall effect in-camera.

Woodland Barcode

Trying to be creative in the woods, I used my flash gun on-camera with colour ‘gels’ – actually transparent sweet wrappers, to capture these images.  Someone on Facebook said the featured image looked like a woodland barcode, hence the title of this post.

Little Visitor

I walked into the kitchen to see this little visitor sitting outside the window.  Thankfully he was still there by the time I’d grabbed my camera and switched to my 300mm lens.

Sunset at Tiddenfoot

A few shots with my 50mm F/1.8 Canon lens from a recent sunset shoot at Tiddenfoot Waterside Park in Leighton Buzzard.  I love sunset and sunrise, they are special times of the day and a great time to chill out and just be.

Billie the Eagle Owl

Last, but not least on our recent Feathers and Fur shoot, was the impressive Billie the Eagle Owl.  As she flew between the posts we had the opportunity to sit against the post for either take-off or landing shots.  She took off and disappeared in a small dip in the grass before reappearing, the intensity of her stare and focus looking straight into the lens was absolutely amazing, let alone the way she glided effortlessly across the grass, before landing inches above our heads.  An experience none of us will ever forget.

South Coast Sunset

Visiting family on the UK south coast, I had a welcome opportunity to try and capture a sunset, those in our part of the UK haven’t really given much of a show this Autumn/Winter.  However, on this ocassion nature didn’t disappoint.  From nearly 200 exposures taken I selected 21 to submit to Alamy, and am extremely pleased that all have been accepted for my stock images.

December Sunset

Happy New Year everyone!  I’m catching up on processing images taken during the Christmas period, and for the first time this Autumn/Winter I’ve had the chance to capture some decent sunsets.  Here’s a couple of images from the first, taken 29th December at Tiddenfoot Waterside Park, Leighton Buzzard.

Reflections

An Autumn morning shoot at Tiddenfoot Waterside Park, Leighton Buzzard.  I was fortunate that the water was particularly still for a while, providing these clear reflections.

Sunlit Bulrushes

As I develop my photography I’ve become more observant and patient to get a shot worth taking, and ultimately sharing.  Rather than a camera full of images, I’d rather have a few that I’ve carefully considered.  After watching the cloud build over the lake, I noticed that when the sun broke through, it was lighting up these reeds, and sat for about half an hour waiting for the right moments.  I’m glad to share they they’ve also been accepted by Alamy for stock images.
