Bluebell Woods

Spring has arrived which means it must be time to capture the colourful spectacle of the bluebell woods. And the scent was amazing too!

Winter Beach at Wells

27th December 2015 – constantly raining further inland, we risked a trip to get some fresh air and were rewarded by a short period of a clearer sky and more strangely, absolutely no breeze.

Sunset Station HDR

It had been raining all day up to this point, so when the clouds broke I took the opportunity to practice some images I’d been thinking about for a while, luckily we’re seconds away from the station bridge.  As it’s impossible to capture moving trains on all tracks in one exposure HDR is one way to attempt this.

Zooming In After Sunset

Taken with my Canon EF 90-300mm lens at 300mm, this lens is great for bringing out the detail and rich colours in shots like this.

HDR Sunset at Tiddenfoot

Saturday 19th September: Although a handy location just minutes from home when I see an evening sky with promise, without HDR the trees around Tiddenfoot Waterside Park, Leighton Buzzard are just a black silhouette.  After much deliberating I thought the final images needed more detail from the surroundings to give context and be more than just about the sky, so decided to share in HDR.  3 exposures were created in camera (-2/0/+2) and blended in Photomatix Essentials.

Grandad’s Planning Time

Taking time to enjoy his garden in the evening my Dad’s always planning what he wants to do next.  He tells my 9 year old son he’s taking his medicine 🙂

Off Camera Flash and Flowers

My Dad loves his garden so in the summer there is always something to allow me and my son to get creative with my DSLR.  Using off-camera flash and closing the aperture down to F22 can create opportunities that may otherwise only be created in a studio.  These images were shot in early evening when there was still a lot of daylight and finished in Photoshop.

Cloudy Linslade Landscape

The last of the mist lingers in the field below the trees, as the cloud forms from the early morning, thick freezing fog.  I’ve processed this in HDR to bring out the details of the sky, and you can see the movement of the cloud in the top of the image, even though there was a split second between exposures.  I processed the 3 RAW exposures, (+2/0/-2), in Canon’s DPP software and finished editing in PSE.

Warp Speed

Playing with some ideas using a set of LED lights, I thought these looked like something from a sci-fi film 🙂

Cascading Hearts – Exclusive Valentine Cards

I need to start thinking ahead more with my commerical photography head, so in preparation for Valentine’s Day I’ve created this exclusive range of cards available from my online store.  The hearts in these designs are photographs of our blue LED christmas lights, and not heart shaped at all!
